The Texas Tech Lady Raiders cracked The Associated Press Top 10 on Monday for the first time in seven years after defeating Oklahoma State and Missouri this past week.
It's the highest ranking in either poll since Jan. 17, 2005, when Tech was ranked No. 10 in The AP Poll.
Tech (14-0, 2-0 Big 12) is only one of four teams nationally that is still undefeated (Baylor, Green Bay, Maryland). Only the Lady Raiders and Baylor are undefeated in the Big 12.
Senior forward Kierra Mallard and junior guard Chynna Brown led the charge this past week to help Tech win 58-53 against Oklahoma State and 69-63 at Missouri. Mallard had her fifth double-double of the season with 19 points and 11 rebounds against Oklahoma State while Brown scored 17 points in a comeback win over the Tigers for Tech's first win in Columbia since 2004.
Tech will travel to Norman, Okla., to clash with the Sooners (9-4, 1-1) on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. (Radio: 97.3 FM in Lubbock; TV: FOX local), before returning to United Spirit Arena on Saturday to host Kansas State at 2 p.m.
