Castro County Sheriff’s Office, Dimmitt police conduct drug raids

On January 7, 2012 Law Enforcement Officers of the Castro County Sheriff's Office and Dimmitt Police Department along with the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Drug Enforcement Administration-Task Force, Texas Parks & Wildlife Game Wardens, Texas Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, Parmer County Sheriff's Office and the Lamb County Sheriff's Office executed three search warrants in the early morning hours in Dimmitt.

Two of the residences were in the northwest area of the city. The other residence was located in the south part of the city.

A residence located on the 800 blk SW 4th Street, yielded methamphetamine, which was packaged for sale; marijuana; cash; a police scanner; and evidence consistent with drug trafficking.

Those arrested at the location were Pedro "Pete" Sifuentez, 59, of Dimmitt who was charged with Manufacture or Deliver of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 over 1 gram-under 4 grams and Possession of Marijuana under Two Ounces; Rosa Isela Dones, 46, of Dimmitt who was charged with Manufacture or Deliver of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 over 1 gram-under 4 grams and Possession of Marijuana under Two Ounces; and Daniel Dones, 29, of Dimmitt who was charged with Possession of Marijuana under Two Ounces.

A residence located on the 600 blk NW 7th Street, yielded cocaine, which was packaged for sale; marijuana; hydrocodone pills; a police scanner; and evidence consistent with drug trafficking. Those arrested at the location were Caleb Ramirez, 31, of Dimmitt who was charged with Manufacture or Deliver of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 over 4 grams-under 200 grams, Possession of Marijuana under Two Ounces and Possession of Dangerous Drugs; Amanda Gonzales, 27, of Dimmitt who was charged with Manufacture or Deliver of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 over 4 grams-under 200 grams; Ruben Espinoza, 26, of Dimmitt who was charged with Manufacture or Deliver of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 over 4 grams-under 200 grams; and Benny Samarripa, 21, of Dimmitt who was charged with Manufacture or Deliver of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 over 4 grams-under 200 grams.

A residence located on the 600 blk NW 5th Street, yielded marijuana, prescription pain medication, and evidence consistent with drug trafficking. The person arrested at the location was Cesar Mejia, 24, of Dimmitt who was charged with Possession of Marijuana under Two Ounces and Possession of Dangerous Drugs.

"These individuals have been engaged in the trafficking of narcotics for a while," said Sheriff Rivera. "I want anyone engaged in the distribution of narcotics in Dimmitt and Castro County to know that local law enforcement is not turning a blind eye to their activities."

All the suspects were taken into custody without any major resistance. All the persons arrested have been arraigned as of Monday, January 9, 2012.
