American State Bank Holds T-Shirt Design Contest

American State Bank is encouraging area high school students to put their patriotic vision on display. ASB is holding a T-shirt design contest as a preliminary event to this year's nationwide observance of the 9-11 anniversary.

Entries must be turned in to any branch of ASB by 3 p.m. March 31st to allow time for the judging and the imprinting of 10,000 T-shirts. The shirts will be sold during the September observance and tribute to raise money for nursing education and related charities. The winning entry will receive a $500 savings bond, a luncheon with nine guests and much more.

Here are the rules and guidelines for the contest:

Color artwork to be submitted depicting 9-11 Memorial and/or First Responders Tribute to be printed on 10,000 T-shirts that will be sold in 16 different West Texas towns as a fund raiser for First Responders, nursing education and other related charities. All submissions must be made at any ASB branch before 3 p.m. March 31st to be eligible to win. Artwork must be submitted either as 11x 14 color, mounted for display on black board or on disc in Adobe Illustrator, version 10 or below or Adobe Photoshop, version 7 or below.

Entries will be displayed for voting purposes in the lobby of ASB at 1401 Avenue Q in Lubbock from April 5th thru April 16. Lobby hours are 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. M-F. Ballots for voting "the People's Choice" will be available.

Public voting closes at 3 p.m. Friday, April 16th. Ballots will be counted and the top 10 entries will be announced.

On Monday, April 19, a panel of judges from local media, First Responders and bank personnel will select 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. Winners will be announced to media. All 10 finalists will be invited and encouraged to attend an awards luncheon at ASB on that day.

All contest entries will become the property of American State Bank and may be displayed at various times and locations.

First prize will receive winning artwork printed on 10,000 T-shirts to be sold at 9-11 memorial and fund raiser, a $500 savings bond, high school and winner receive final artwork framed with plaque stating commemoration, 10 free t-shirts, artist recognition on ASB Web site and recognition luncheon for winner and nine guests.

Second prize will receive a $250 savings bond and third prize will receive a $100 savings bond.

Feb. 16 - March 31 - Entries submitted

April 5 - 16 - Public voting

April 19 - Judging and winners announced
