Thoms Indicted on Capital Murder Charges

A Lubbock grand jury indicted the man believed responsible for the first shooting death of 2004.

29-year-old Barry Lee Thoms was indicted on capital murder charges in the death of 79-year-old Dorman Shaw. Shaw was shot several times at his home at 2403 56th street on January 1st of this year. When police arrived, they saw Thoms fleeing the scene. After a brief chase, the suspect allegedly raised his gun toward police. That's when Officer Stan Bloodworth fired his weapon and Thoms was hit between two and four times.

Thoms remains hospitalized at UMC.
