New Year's Resolution to start eating right

Posted: Updated:

If your New Year's Resolution is to Eat Better, you could end up "better" for a lot of reasons. We all know eating right can help you drop a few extra pounds. But did you know a healthy diet also could be the key to unlocking great hair and skin?

Healthy eating can help us look our best on the outside and feel our best on the inside. Researchers have found these diet tips can improve inner and outer beauty.

  • First, cut out the soda. Not only can the calories add unwanted pounds, but soda (diet included) is highly acidic and can cause the demineralization of our teeth.
  • Load up on red peppers. They're not only delicious — they're also packed with vitamins A and C, which can prevent cell damage, inflammation and premature aging.
  • Add fresh herbs.  Cilantro and parsley, for example, contain cleansing properties that help extract heavy metals and other toxins from the body.
  • Mind your chemistry. Alkaline and acid simultaneously occur in our bodies and produce a certain ratio. Our bodies are better off with high alkalinity and less acidity. Eating foods high in alkaline, such as ripe fruits and greens, can help bring sheen and bounce to your hair.
  • Count on kale.  Kale is highly nutritious, has powerful antioxidant properties and contains chlorophyll, a major blood cleanser. The cleaner our blood, the more beautiful we are.

So if your New Year's resolution is to eat better, remember this- Five is fine, nine is divine.  Five servings of fruits and vegetables everyday is a must, but getting nine is even better.
