LEDA announces more than 140 new jobs

On Monday, LEDA or the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance announced more than 140 new jobs.

The first 106 are from Red River Commodities.  They're expanding into Lubbock to produce sunflower snacks, and the company is spending 11 million dollars on new facilities here in town.

The next company is Amerigroup. They're setting up a regional office in Lubbock with 36 new jobs. The average salary will more than $70,000 dollars per year.  So the Amerigroup announcement is very much in line with LEDA's goal of creating high-paying jobs to keep Texas Tech graduates here in Lubbock.
