Closed door meeting Thursday on City v. Parker

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

After a regularly scheduled City Council meeting on Thursday, the Council will meet again in special session. The agenda calls for a closed-door meeting on the City's long-running legal battle with businessman Ted Parker.

Parker's companies acted as the City's third-party health insurance administrator from 2004 though 2006. The city claims that Parker's companies owe taxpayers a refund of millions of dollars. Parker denies any wrongdoing, except for a few accidental overpayments to local health care providers. Parker's attorney has said in the past that the allegations are political in nature.

Our sources have not been able to tell us if there will be a major update on the legal battle after Thursday's meeting. If there is, look for an update on KCBD.com.
