TYLER, TX (KCBD) -

Tyler DPS troopers took a man into custody in connection with the death of 43-year-old Stephanie Williams on Friday night, but he was released after questioning.

Williams was found on the side of the road near 46th and Locust wrapped in a white sheet Wednesday night.

Tyler DPS say the man was cuffed in the parking lot of a Tyler Wal-Mart and held for Lubbock police. Authorities say they were able to find him by tracing his cell phone around 7:30 p.m. They had him in custody less than an hour later.

Police have not released the cause of Williams' death, but they say she had wounds on her head. Investigators believe she could have gone by several other names, including Janice Johnson, Lisa Williams and Stephanie Jones.

If you have any information on Williams' whereabouts before Wednesday, you are asked to call Crime Line at 806-741-1000.
