Caution Urged as Road Conditions Worsen

From the First Alert Forecast Center, temperatures are supposed to remain at 27 degrees overnight. Roads will be slick for your Wednesday morning commute. Texas Department of Transportation and City of Lubbock street crews are working throughout the evening to ensure safe roads. However, they can't guarantee it.

Winter Driving
Winter driving involves some dangerous situations that only occur at this time of year. The hours of darkness increase while daylight hours decrease. Together with fog, rain, snow, and ice, this problem greatly increases the dangers of driving in the winter months.

Watch out for overpasses and bridges on Loop 289 and Interstate 27. Be particularly careful at every city intersection. Spreaders are working these areas the most as condition continue to worsen. TX DOT and the COL are spreading a salt and sand combination to help melt any ice.
