There may be another health risk from taking hormone replacement therapy. It's a small study but researchers suggest after testing 64 women that those on hormone replacement therapy scored lower on hearing tests compared to the women not taking hormones. In addition, the hormone users had difficulty deciphering speech in a setting where there is background noise.

The study was funded by the National Institutes of Health.
