Annual African American History Bowl Awards Handed Out

Wednesday, the 11th annual African American History Bowl handed out its top awards for students in Lubbock.

NewsChannel 11 Celebrates Black History Month
February is Black History Month. All this month NewsChannel 11 is looking back at the prominent African Americans and the roles that they have played in history.

The top winner was Julia Shannon, a 6th grader at Smith Elementary. Teams from Rush Elementary took the top two team slots.

More than 36 teams from elementary schools throughout the district participated.
