Texas Tech University will now consider race and ethnicity in addition to a new student's academics when it comes to admission.
The Board of Regents has decided to amend their Admission Policy, which includes ways to diversify Tech's student body. Now on the application, there will be questions about a student's experience in foreign language, culture, abroad studies, and race.
The new policy doesn't guarantee admission into Tech, but increases those student's chances. This is not state mandated, but an attempt to get Texas Universities to enroll students that reflect the state's diversity.
