A Lubbock family that went to North Carolina looking for a miracle is returning home now for the worst reason.
As you remember, Trevor and Ross Joiner were diagnosed with the same fatal illness. Their only option was to go to Duke University Medical Center for stem cell transplants.
Trevor, the older of the two, is recovering after his second transplant. He remains hospitalized at Duke while his parents, Joe and Janet Joiner, are returning to Lubbock to plan funeral services for the younger brother, Ross.
Little Ross seemed to do well after his stem cell transplant, but then, took a turn for the worse. After two weeks in critical condition, he died Saturday from complications of the transplant.
The funeral for Ross Joiner is scheduled for Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. at Indiana Avenue Baptist Church which is at 98th St. and Indiana.
