LCHS, Abernathy softball game to raise money for children with heart defects

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Softball season at Lubbock Christian High School starts Thursday with a very special game against Abernathy. So why is that in our Healthwise segment?  Because that game is a fundraiser for an organization called Mended Little Hearts.

The particular little heart these ball players are helping belongs to three year old Liam, son of Levi Groomer, the Abernathy softball coach. Little Liam has a congenital heart defect. He's already had two open heart surgeries, and will need another one when he's five.

These kids are playing this first game to raise money to fight congenital heart defects.

The game will start Thursday at 4 p.m. on the LCHS campus at "The Diamond in Eagle Park." The game was originally scheduled for Monday, but was rescheduled due to weather.
