The Texas Tech Medical School has settled a free speech lawsuit with a student.
Sandeep Rao is a former Opinions Editor and Columnist for Tech's University Daily. The school expelled him over his description of an autopsy in the newspaper. Rao then sued Tech in 2002, alleging his freedom of speech was violated. His lawsuit sought reinstatement into the medical school, although he returned to classes under a court order issued the month after he filed suit.
Tech says the settlement is not an admission of liability or wrongdoing.
