If someone you love has suffered a heart attack or some other cardiac event, your greatest gift to them could be that little push into cardiac rehab. This is Cardiac Rehab Week, which is a good time to focus on what that can add to the life of a recovering heart patient.
Covenant Lifestyle Centre Cardiac Rehab Coordinator, Laura Lowe, said, "Because the history of heart disease is progressive. If the root causes aren't addressed, then they're going to have more heart problems. We try to get them the understanding of that and give them the empowerment that they can go out and really become healthier."
The American Heart Association says the best way to improve the care you receive after a cardiac event is by talking to your health care team about your concerns, asking questions, and getting the facts. All that is part of the process in cardiac rehab.
