Lubbock Valentines still say it with flowers

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

As husbands and boyfriends all over Lubbock sprinted off to grab last-minute Valentine's gifts. it appears the most popular way to tell someone you love them is with flowers.

Flower shops like Adams Flowers in Lubbock have been working non-stop to get ready for their biggest day of the year. They had to make sure all the roses were in bloom and the bows were tied just right. In fact, they started their Valentine's Day preparation back in December.

Antonio Luna hit Adams flowers to pick up a bouquet for his sweetheart. He thinks flowers are a Valentine's tradition.

"Valentine's Day should be every day. Every woman loves flowers. I got some because that's what the woman like." Luna said.

Jenny Savage has been working at Adams Flowers for two years. She said this is for sure the busiest day of the year, but it's fun to see everyone smile because of their deliveries.

"It's hectic, but it's fun because everyone is happy," Savage said.

She says you never know what you're going to get when you walk through the door.

"A lot of times they're really surprised and a lot of times they'll roll their eyes and say 'Oh, no,'" Savage said.

Whether they admit it or not, every girl daydreams of seeing that big bouquet of flowers waltz into the room. Although Adams Flowers loves the spike in business, Savage said they're ready for the hustle and bustle to die down.
