Baseball legend Nolan Ryan stopped by the town of Gail Wednesday to help dedicate Borden County High School's new baseball field. Along with him, Texas Rangers star David Murphy, Fox Sports reporter Emily Jones, and Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux made an appearance.
The community and the kids lined up to meet the Rangers CEO, and it also gave time for Ryan to talk to some of the baseball team.
"I just asked them about how their season went, because I heard they had a really good football season" said the Rangers owner. "They're looking forward to playing on this field [during baseball season], so I think they're really excited."
"We try to cover different areas of the state with our caravan...so we thought it would be unique to come to Gail, because they have been supportive of us. A lot of times these small towns don't get the attention other cities get, so we thought we'd come in and tell them 'thank you' and have a chance to dedicate their field."
The pristine facilities give the Coyotes a chance to play on an artificial turf infield - a luxury most high school baseball players don't get to enjoy.
"Anytime we can broaden their opportunities, I think that's important."
