LITTLEFIELD, TX (KCBD) -

DPS Troopers think one of the drivers in a head-on crash south of Littlefield Saturday night had just been involved in another crash minutes before.  The head on collision was at 11:15 PM along Highway 385, 1 mile south of Highway 84.

DPS says Kyle Rodriguez, 23, of Whitharral was going south, crossed the center line and crashed his vehicle into a family's SUV that was going the other way.  Rodriguez is now being investigated for possibly driving while intoxicated.  Officials think he had just left the scene of a hit & run crash at the time of the head on collision.

Both Rodriguez and Joe Garcia of Amarillo had to be freed from the wreckage by the jaws of life.  DPS says a passenger in the back seat of Garcia's SUV, Krista Conner, 32, was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle.  An infant, properly restrained in a car seat, was not hurt.

All four were taken by Littlefield EMS to University Medical Center in Lubbock.  As of Sunday evening Conner was still in critical condition.
