While you may think having a baby with colic could trigger a migraine. A new study suggests it's the other way around.
Researchers at the University of California, in San Francisco surveyed over a hundred fifty new moms whose babies were showing signs of colic. They found women who suffered from migraines were twice as likely to end up with a baby with colic.
Researchers say this is more than just interesting. "It also gives you the opportunity to prepare for it, so you can be thinking, 'my goodness if I have migraine there's a greater chance that my child might have colic.' that might also be some comfort, at least I now understand why that child has colic", stated Pediatric Neurologist, Dr. David Rothner.
Colic is defined as excessive crying in an otherwise healthy infant, and in more than fifty years of research, this is one more theory. However, no one really knows for sure why these babies are crying.
