This goes against the government, but it might make parents feel a little better, especially if you have teens in the house who don't get to sleep when you'd like them to.
Federal guidelines recommend nine hours a night for teens. A new study from Brigham Young University suggests too much sleep may do the opposite and leave kids feeling lazy and hurting their grades.
Eric Eide, a study author, said, "So when they read our study and find out that seven hours is really fine then that makes them feel better about their teenagers sleep patterns."
This study is the first to analyze sleep and school performance. After studying more than 1,700 students, this study found that for teens, seven hours of sleep is good. However, there are still a lot of skeptics.
