K-9 unit subdues early-morning burglar

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Lubbock police responded to a report of a burglary in progress early Tuesday morning in the 3000 block of 32nd Street.

Officers located the suspect trying to hide in one of the bedrooms. Police say the suspect refused several requests to submit to arrest without incident.

A K-9 unit was called in and "gained control of the burglar."

Ira Herrera, 26, was arrested and taken to UMC for treatment of a laceration to his left upper thigh.

Herrera was taken to LPD Detention Center and charged with Burglary.
