Hepatitis C found in baby boomer generation

Posted: Updated:

It's estimated more than three million Americans are infected with Hepatitis C, but at least half don't know it. You see, it can take decades for the symptoms to show up.  Now, the CDC says it is showing up, a lot.

A recent study shows three-fourths of the patients who die from Hepatitis C are from the baby boomer generation, which is between age 45 and 64.

So now, officials at the CDC are debating whether all adults in that age group should undergo a one-time blood test to screen for the disease. They predict new drugs available to treat Hepatitis C could save the lives of at least eighty thousand baby boomers.
