LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The Lubbock Fire Department held a ribbon cutting for Fire Station Number 16 Wednesday morning, one of three new stations approved by Lubbock voters in the November 2009 bond election.

Lubbock Mayor Tom Martin said the new station at 114th Street and Quaker will bring Lubbock one step closer to meeting the national standard of having a 5-minute response time.

Councilman Paul Beane used the occasion to announce his bid for re-election, hoping to serve four more years for District 4.
