Melcher was shot in his home on the 1400 block of Lynn Street in SlatonSLATON, TX (KCBD) -
69-year-old Fred Melcher has been released from the hospital after he was hurt three weeks ago during a deadly home invasion.
Melcher suffered a gunshot wound and was hit in the head with a hammer, allegedly during a confrontation with his former roommate Robert Holt.
Police say Melcher shot and killed Holt when he came home and found the man stealing from him.
The case is expected to go before a grand jury in the coming weeks. They will determine whether or not Melcher will face any charges for killing Holt.
