Lady Chaps complete tournament with win for 11-0 start

CHICKASHA, Okla. - Kim Frazer was 2-for-2, driving in three of the Lady Chaparrals four runs and Sarah Mendez retired McPherson College in order in six of the seven innings pitched of her complete game, as No.7 Lubbock Christian University closed out play in the Chickasha February Festival Softball Tournament with a 4-1 win over McPherson Saturday afternoon.

Mendez (3-0) faced four players over the minimum in the seven-inning complete game win.  She retired the first 10 batters faced and had a no-hitter for the first 3.1 innings.  Mendez allowed just three hits and they all came in the fourth inning.  Amanda Baxter drove in the lonely McPherson run with a single in the inning before the Lady Chaps got out of the jam while McPherson left the bases full.

The run by McPherson cut into the 2-0 lead by LCU, as the Lady Chaps received a two-out triple by Kim Frazier to score Andrea Argee in the first inning and a single by Frazier in the third inning to again score Argee.  In the bottom of the fifth, Frazier obtained her third RBI of the game with a sacrifice fly to score McKenzie Clemmons.  Mendez followed with a single to centerfield to score Argee for a 4-1 lead.

The Lady Chaps are now 11-0 on the season with the win, and all 11 wins have come away from PlainsCapital Park.  They finally return home Saturday to defend their NAIA record 51-game home win streak hosting Oklahoma Christian for a Sooner Athletic Conference doubleheader starting at noon.
