Consider This...Standardized dress is coming

Updated:

Last year I strongly advocated for school uniforms in public schools. So obviously it was welcome news to hear a handful of Lubbock ISD middle schools are now considering it.

Standardized dress has many more benefits than it does disadvantages. School officials say and research shows school uniforms cut down on discipline problems, improve campus morale and school pride, and promote a spirit of teamwork. And I completely agree.

It also does away with officials having to set a complicated dress code that, in most cases, is subjective and hard to enforce.

Consider This:

I you are a parent of a student in one of these schools, you've probably already been asked for feedback and maybe even attended a meeting about it. I would encourage you, whether you are for them or against them, to be proactive and give the district your opinion about school uniforms. Help them make the decision. Because just like an election, if you don't vote, then you have little room to complain.
