Head-On Collision Near 4th St.

A 19 year-old woman was killed and three others were injured when they were hit head-on by an alleged drunk driver Friday night. Police say that 22 year-old Bernabe Mendoza was northbound on West Loop 289 near 4th St. when he crossed the median and slammed head-on into a car driven by 19 year-old Rebecca Blair.

Blair was taken to University Medical Center where she died a few hours later. 15 year-old passenger Laura Pederson was also taken to UMC. She's been upgraded to serious condition.

19 year-olds Krissy Murdock and Jakie Clay were taken to Covenant. Murdock is in serious condition and Clay was treated and released.

Mendoza suffered only minor injuries, and according to police, he is being charged with intoxicated assault.
