Sales collections in Lubbock are up, which is good news for local shopkeepers. It means people are spending more money in local stores.
On Wednesday, the Texas Comptroller's office said Lubbock sales taxes are up 4.61% comparing March 2012 with March 2011. Year-to-date, Lubbock sales taxes are up 3.75% from $13,397,227.80 last year to $13,900,218.69 this year.
For Lubbock County, sales tax collections are up 3.58% for March and 2.39% for the year-to-date.
