A new "facts and figures" report from the Alzheimer's Association is basically a grim warning of what's to come, as the baby boomer population ages if there is no cure.
Dr. William Thies said, "We really are going to see an explosion with maybe as many as three times the number of people with Alzheimer's disease by the middle of this century if we don't do anything about it."
The report also features a special concern. One out of seven people with Alzheimer's is a woman who lives alone. The report says they are more likely to go longer before the diagnosis, and are at risk for life-threatening situations like malnutrition or wandering away from home.
