Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson was in Lubbock Thursday campaigning for Lieutenant Governor for 2014.

He held a meet-and-greet at the Schlotzsky's-Cinnabon on 19th Street.

During the event he said the main issue he wants to focus on is water, saying he didn't feel that people are talking about it enough.

"Water is important because Texas is growing," Patterson said. "1,000 to 1,500 net population gain-per-day. We have to do something about it today. We've got to be able to move water around when necessary."

Current Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst is leaving his position to campaign for U.S. Senate.

Texas Comptroller Susan Combs and Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples have also both expressed interest in running for the position.
