Frances Hanks peaceful Northwest Lubbock neighborhood was shattered Thursday morning. "I came out about 6 a.m. to get the paper and saw that. It was quite a shock," she said.
Between two and five on Friday morning, someone had crashed into her garage and possibly crawled into her attic. The suspect left the seen.
Not too far away, four other homes were hit. One home owner found that her attic was wide open. Tire marks were left on the driveway giving police investigators reason to believe someone driving an SUV or pick-up truck did this.
"In my 20 years of law enforcement, I haven't seen anything on this scale for this type of damage to a residential structure that appears to be happening in a small neighborhood," said Glen Fowler, Lubbock Property Crimes Captain.
So far, just houses in Northwest Lubbock were hit. Garages were either smashed or torn down. One home owner has already replaced her door but her car is still damaged from the crash. The estimated damages are more than $3,000.
Police reports indicate the only thing stolen was a power saw out of one of the five houses hit. "Nothing has happened like this before. I moved here in 1975," said Frances.
No one has been arrested for these crimes. Police are looking for a suspect driving a red SUV or pick-up that may have some damage to it.
