A rare brain surgery perform on a young girl

Posted: Updated:

In Dallas today, the medical staff at Children's Medical City gave a birthday party for an 11 year old who came back for a well-check after a rare surgery.  Gabbie King had a malignant brain tumor. Her symptoms first appeared when one eye wasn't moving all the way or following the other eye.

Rather than traditional brain surgery, doctors decided they could reach and remove every bit of it through the nose.

Gabbie said, "I feel much better, like thinking back that I was in the hospital and looking at me now."

Gabbie's mother, Renee, said, "We believe that through prayer and lots of friends that anything's possible and definitely that she is the strongest little girl ever."

The 13-hour surgery was a success.  Following six weeks of radiation, Gabbie returned to the hospital for her party, and to show the staff how good it feels to be celebrating this birthday cancer free.
