LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -
Area residents strapped on their high heels and pounded the pavement Saturday morning, all to march against rape and sexual violence. The 5th Annual Walk a Mile in her Shoes took place at the Lubbock County Courthouse.
The annual fundraiser is a march for men who want to end sexual violence, but everyone was invited to participate. The event is international, but according to Leslie Timmons with the Lubbock Rape Crisis Center, Lubbock was the first Texas city to bring the walk to the state.
"It's also our only fundraiser for the year, all of our services are free. So, it's important that we raise funds," Timmons said.
The event also had live music, a silent auction and other family friendly activities.
