Three months after the Texas Parole Board unanimously recommended to commute his sentence, a Plainview man remains on death row.
Joe Lee Guy was the lookout during a 1993 robbery in Plainview that left the owner of the store dead. The two gunmen were given life sentences. Guy was the only man sentenced to death.
Governor Rick Perry has not yet made a decision to commute Guy's sentence to life in prison. His office says Guy's request is under review at the State General Counsel's Office.
