Food for Thought Report 3.25

This week city health inspectors had 20 food establishments on their lists. And one school is included in this Food for Thought report.

Vanda Early Learning Center at 1301 Vanda Avenue had two critical violations.

  • A dishwasher was not working properly.
  • A cooler did not have a thermometer.

The report shows the thermometer violation was corrected on site.

Now on to this week's Top and Low Performing restaurants.

We start under those golden arches, McDonald's at 5010 I-27 turns in a golden performance this time, with zero critical violations, making them a Food for Thought Top Performer.

Palomo's at 901 East Broadway is next on our Top Performing list. This East Lubbock establishment earns zero critical violations.

The only Low Performer this time is Arby's at 4020 82nd Street with four critical violations.

  • Sliced chicken, sliced roast beef and sliced turkey were found at 55 degrees. Cold foods must be kept at 41 to 45 degrees or cooler.
  • A hot hold chicken sandwich was found at 127 degrees. Hot foods must be kept at 140 degrees or warmer.
  • Cooling units in a reach in cooler and on a service line were not working.
  • A bottle containing de greaser was stored near various food items on a service line.

The Manager at Arby's told me everything has been corrected.
