Lubbock Police Officer Returns From Paid Administrative Leave

A Lubbock SWAT Team member is back on duty following his paid administrative leave in the fatal standoff near Friona.

Officer Scott Weems allegedly fired the shot that killed 37-year-old Robby Lynn Vaughn on March 21st. Vaughn shot at officers while leading police on a chase through Swisher County before holding a Friona family hostage. They were released unharmed but Vaughn kept police at bay in a 15-hour standoff.

Following standard procedure, Weems was placed on paid administrative leave while an investigation was underway.
