Frenship Student Dies In Head-on Collision

A 16-year-old Frenship High School student was killed in a head-on collision Thursday afternoon in Southwest Lubbock and left three others hospitalized.

The accident happened around 4pm Thursday afternoon in the 7400 block of 82nd Street. According to Lubbock Police, Landon Velasquez was traveling down 82nd Street when his truck veered into oncoming traffic, colliding head-on with another pick-up truck.

A female passenger in Velasquez's truck was taken to the hospital in critical condition. EMS took the driver and passenger of the other truck to the hospital, in serious condition.
