District 3 City Councilman Gary Boren will host a district meeting Monday night at 7 p.m. in the Hutchinson Junior High School Auditorium, 3102 Canton Avenue.
Councilman Boren has invited many community leaders, including school principals, church ministers, and neighborhood association members from the area including the Bayless-Atkins, Caprock, Maedgen, Stubbs-Stewart, UNIT (Tech Terrace), Maxey Park, South Lubbock, Wheelock and Monterey Neighborhood Associations.
The meeting will address the following four areas of concern:
1. Protecting children, families, senior citizens, college students and neighbors from crimes such as property theft, personal assaults, sex offenders and predators
2. Developing a master plan for neighborhood revitalization/stabilization to protect homes and their values and the infrastructure and neighborhood school concepts for the future
3. Current code enforcement for the neighborhood
4. The role of key community leaders
Councilman Boren will lead a discussion of the issues with special guests Mayor Marc McDougal, City Manager Lou Fox, Police Chief Claude Jones, Fire Chief Steve Hailey, Business and Neighborhood Development Manager Rob Allison and other code enforcement personnel, and Matt Powell, District Attorney's Office.
