Tech drops series finale at Oklahoma State, 7-1

STILLWATER, Okla. – Texas Tech lost 7-1 at Oklahoma State in its Big 12 series finale on Sunday afternoon at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.

The Red Raiders (22-20, 3-12 Big 12) collected only four base hits while the Cowboys (22-17, 8- 7 Big 12) swept its second Big 12 series of the season.

Texas Tech evened the score at 1-1 in the third inning when sophomore catcher Mason Randolph scored on a passed ball. The Cowboys answered with three runs in the fourth and also notched a pair of runs in the sixth inning to improve to 19-3 at home this season.

Red Raider starting pitcher Trey Masek (1-4) suffered the loss allowing five runs on eight hits in five innings pitched with four strikeouts and one walk allowed.

Oklahoma State starting pitcher Randy McCurry (3-2) earned the win pitching 7.2 innings while giving up just one run on four hits with six strikeouts and three walks.

Texas Tech was led at the plate by junior second baseman Jamodrick McGruder who went 2-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base. He now has 30 stolen bases this season and tallied the 81st stolen base of his career.

Center fielder Barrett Barnes (1-for-3) and designated hitter Kevin Whitehead (1-for-3) were the only other Tech players with a base hit in the contest.

Texas Tech will continue its road trip this week with a two-game midweek series at New Mexico on April 24-25 at Isotopes Park in Albuquerque.
