Only 5% of the public who can donate blood, actually do. That's why United Blood Services is again asking for your help.
The local demand for blood has exceeded the supply. According to UBS, a donor can give blood six times a year. Last year, only 48 people in Lubbock made that commitment. Les Long, with United Blood Services, says that is regrettable, because a third of the population will need blood at some point in their lives. "It could be a stranger that you help but it could be a loved one, it could be a neighbor or you could be in an accident and end up with the blood yourself." said Long.
So, if you would like to help, stop by the Donor Center at 48th and University, or call (806) 741-1752 to make an appointment.
