Every week we tell you what health and safety violations could be lurking in the kitchens of your favorite food establishments, and sometimes the list includes schools. That's the case this time. This week three schools in the area make our report and none of them received a perfect score. Let's check out their violations in this edition of Food for Thought.
|Food for Thought 4.8|
Bennett Intermediate at 101 Preston Road in Wolfforth gets two critical violations. The inspector observed a roach on the wall in the kitchen area and a scope needed to be replaced. That violation was corrected on site.
The district uses an outside extermination business to handle insects and other pests.
Casey Elementary School at 5001 7th Street in Wolfforth gets two critical violations. The waste water pipeline in the two compartment sink needed to be shortened one inch off of the floor in order to prevent back flow. And one cutting board needed to be replaced. The report shows both violations were corrected on site.
Frenship Junior High School at 500 Main Street in Wolfforth gets two critical violations. Rodent droppings were observed along the wall in the chemical room. And one cutting board needed to be replaced. Again, the district uses an outside extermination business to handle insects and rodents. The cutting board violation was corrected on site.
Now for this week's restaurants.
First on top is Dippin' Dots inside South Plains Mall at 6002 Slide Road. This five year old cool spot features good old fashioned ice cream, but it's frozen into tiny little dots, giving it a different look and texture. This time they hit a perfect score right on the dot, with zero critical violations.
And our other Top Performer is Earlene's Cakes at 1323 East 78th street. This popular cake spot earns a perfect score with zero critical violations.
