Lubbock tobacco shop owner shot at closing time

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Lubbock Police say the owner of Tobacco Road, 2908 Parkway Drive, was shot Thursday at about 11:10 p.m.

Police also say Anthony Carter, 45, was closing up shop for the night when he was approached by two men. The two suspects were armed with handguns, police say. They approached Carter outside as he was closing the store and demanded money. Carter did not give the suspects any money and one of the suspects shot the victim as they fled.

Carter was shot once in the lower back and was transported to UMC.  His injuries are not considered life threatening. The suspects have not been located at this time. Investigation is ongoing.

Police say the suspects are two black males of an unknown age.  Both are approximately 6'00" with a heavy build.  One was wearing a white shirt and one was wearing a black shirt.  Both were wearing masks.  A gold or silver 4-door passenger car may also be involved.
