You've probably heard of hyperbaric oxygen chambers, but did you know that treatment is available here in Lubbock?
The air is pressurized at 2 atmospheres, which means the patients inside get 15 times the amount of oxygen they would get when they breathe normal air.
The theory is since oxygen is healing, that that much oxygen may be able to save slow healing tissue that might otherwise die and need amputation, which is a common risk for patients with diabetes who often suffer from poor circulation.
Hyperbaric oxygen is only available at the Wound Care Center on the corner of Oxford and the Brownfield Highway. You might ask your doctor about it if you're fighting a wound that's taking way too long to heal.
