You've probably heard that a lack of iron can make you feel sluggish, but here's something new, it may also mess with your memory.
Researchers at Pennsylvania State studied the blood iron levels in more than 100 young women and compared it to attention, memory, and learning. Half the group took iron supplements. The other half got a sugar pill.
They found the women who took the iron supplements significantly improved their attention, memory, and learning, even finishing their tests in less time than the other group. Researchers say it kind of makes sense because low levels of iron are known to increase the risk of learning problems in children.
