Police Say Similarities Exist in Prostitute Slayings

The recent discovery of Linda Trevino Carbajal's body on a county road has the Sheriff's Department collaborating with the Lubbock Police Department. Five years ago in July of 1999, the body of 19-year-old Amanda Gschwend was found badly beaten in a field in North Lubbock.

Gschwend was also a known prostitute who's killer remains at large. "Amanda did die as a result of blunt force trauma to the head, that's already been released. Her lifestyle did lend itself to the same lifestyle of the recent two individuals demise and those are the only similarities we have at this point," said Chris Breunig, an LPD Detective.

Police are not linking Gschwend's case with the two in the county at this time, but they are hoping to spark talk that may answer questions on all three cases. If you have any information on this murder, you are urged to call Crime Line at (806) 741-1000.
