Texas Children's Hospital in Houston has just unveiled a six-pack after keeping the delivery quiet for more than a week. Lauren and David Perkins had trouble conceiving, so they sought fertility treatment. Ten days ago, Lauren delivered three boys and three girls, all between one and two pounds.
Dr. Stephen Welty, a neonatologist there, credits the mother's good prenatal care in the first trimester for the overall good health of the babies now. "Five of the six are following a very accelerated, very rapid path. Then there's Leah, that's again in a way driving the boat that is catching up slowly but surely."
New mother Lauren said, "We really are so appreciative of all the support, and all the prayers that we've received from around the world."
Leah is the only baby who remains on a ventilator. The babies came 10 weeks early with 35 people in the operating room.
