WTOS Meets City Council and School Board Candidates

A group of people wanting to make West Texas a better place to live took their concerns to candidates vying for your votes. Candidates running for Lubbock City Council and the Lubbock School Board attended an accountability session with the West Texas Organizing Strategy, or WTOS. The meeting was held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church Sunday and WTOS members say it will help them make better choices when voting for candidates.

"This is an occasion for us to tell the person running for office what we are wanting from those elected officials, and they have the opportunity to say yes or no and this will help us vote intelligently accordingly," says Duane Christian, WTOS member.

Some of the issues addressed include: water, school improvements, medical care, police protection, and safety concerns. WTOS is a coalition of churches and schools across West Texas, including 20 churches and schools here in Lubbock.
