SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A Shreveport father charged with 1st degree murder in the death of his one-year-old son was arraigned Thursday.

The Caddo coroner says an autopsy revealed that Rodricus Crawford's son, Roderius Lott, was smothered. The coroner also says the child had several bruises and signs of abuse.

Crawford was initially charged with second degree murder in Lott's death, but the charge was upgraded. Investigators have not disclosed what led them to upgrade that charge.

Lott was found unresponsive at a home in 6800 block of Broadway  in Shreveport's Mooretown neighborhood on February 16th.
