District One City Council Candidates Square Off In Forum

As the May 15th Election approaches, candidates in city races are using forums to reach voters.

Monday night, the two candidates for City Council District one met at a Central Lubbock Volunteer Center to share their opinions with voters. Cloetta Shotts, a former City Code Enforcement Officer, and Linda Deleon, a long-time Lubbock School board member each spoke for ten minutes and then answered questions.

"I think it's really important that they hold officials accountable, they ask us questions of what our visions is and ask us questions to see if we are going to get it accomplished." said DeLeon.

"This part of Lubbock is the core is the center of Lubbock and it is important to the entire city that these older neighborhoods survive and thrive." said Shotts.

The next forum will be held this Wednesday in the Monterey High School auditorium. All five candidates for the Lubbock City Council's District Four seat will meet in a forum at 6:30 p.m.
